What can I drink while intermittent fasting?

Water, black coffee and plain unsweetened tea keep the fast intact. Anything with calories — milk, sugar, juice, most soft drinks — breaks it.

The simple rule is that calories break a fast. Water (still or sparkling), black coffee and plain unsweetened tea are all essentially calorie-free and are the standard choices that keep a fast going — and the caffeine genuinely helps with the hunger that peaks and passes in the first few days.

What breaks it: milk or cream in coffee, sugar, honey, fruit juice, smoothies, regular soft drinks, and "just a splash" of anything with calories. Sweeteners are a grey area — zero-calorie ones do not add energy, though some people find they nudge appetite, so it is worth noticing your own response.

One caveat that matters more than the drinks list: staying hydrated is not optional during a fast. The body still needs water, and some of the early "I feel terrible" of fasting is plain dehydration rather than hunger.
