Editorial standards & sources
Health content is only worth reading if you know where it comes from and what it is not. This page lays out who makes TempoLife, how the numbers are sourced, how the guides are written and checked, and — just as important — the limits.
Who makes this
TempoLife is built and run by Probyte OÜ, a small company in Estonia. It is not a media brand with a newsroom; it is a product team, and the guides are written by the people who build the app, then checked against mainstream nutrition and sleep science before publishing. We tell you this plainly rather than dressing it up — you should weigh our content knowing it comes from a product team, not a clinic.
Where the nutrition numbers come from
The per-100 g calorie and macronutrient values across our 5 237 foods come from the USDA FoodData Central reference database (SR Legacy), which is public domain. We publish those numbers as they are, with each food page carrying machine-readable NutritionInformation data, and we make the whole table available as an open dataset and a free API so anyone can check our figures against the source.
How the guides are written and checked
The limits — please read this
TempoLife is a diary and a set of reference tools, not a medical device, and nothing here is medical, diagnostic or personalised dietary advice. Calorie estimates — whether from a photo or a database — are estimates, and real portions, brands, ripeness and cooking change them. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, are managing an eating disorder, or are making significant changes to how you eat or train, talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian who knows your situation. A calculator on a website cannot.
AI, honestly
We use AI in the product — the photo calorie estimate is AI, and it is always editable before you save it. Some reference text is AI-assisted and then checked by us against the sources above. We do not publish AI output unchecked, and we do not invent studies, statistics or expert bylines.
See the sources for yourself
Our numbers are open: browse them, download them, or query the API. We would rather you check than take our word for it.
