The AI reads what is visible in the photo and guesses the rest. That is an estimate, not a measurement — and that is fine, because the value of the diary comes from the correction. You know how big the portion really was; the AI knows the database. The entry is finished when the two meet.
The good news: a corrected photo entry takes about 10–30 seconds — less than a search-and-type routine.
What makes an estimate read high or low
Four usual drifts. Portion: what is on the plate vs the database average — the most common error. Mixed dishes: stews, salads and casseroles hide ingredients under sauce.
