Frequently asked questions

Where is my name?

This page carries a curated set of the established folk-calendar days. The full modern official calendar — around a thousand names — is maintained by the Institute of the Estonian Language, linked below; this site deliberately points there instead of copying it wholesale.

Are Finnish name days included?

No. The Finnish almanac name-day list is licensed by the University of Helsinki almanac office, and Russian Orthodox name days had no licence-clean primary list verified for this build. The curated Estonian set here is all this page publishes.

How is Easter computed?

With the Western computus (the Gregorian algorithm), the same one behind published almanacs. Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Pentecost are national holidays in Estonia and appear in the holiday table and the "today" page.

Is the moon phase exact?

It is an approximation from a fixed epoch against the mean synodic month (29.53 days). Real lunations drift a few hours a year; for calendar purposes it is enough, and the page labels it as an approximation.
