Why there is no player on this page

The registry entry for this surface promises short explainers with transcripts. Before building it, the repository was searched for anything playable. There is none: the only video files here are a twenty-second app promo and three paid-advertisement aspect ratios, and the one tool that can publish video — a renderer for weekly news Shorts — leaves no record of a published video anywhere in the codebase.

Two options followed from that. Embed a player pointed at files that do not exist, or publish what does exist. What exists is the writing: fourteen complete storyboards with timed beats, on-screen text, voiceover, visual direction, production notes and the exact figures each script puts on screen. A script is genuinely useful to read — most of these explain the topic faster than a video would — and it is ready for a camera the day someone picks one up.

So this page is labelled a script library everywhere it could be mistaken for something else, and there is no <video>, no <iframe> and no play button anywhere on the surface. When a script is shot, the video goes on its own page and this notice comes down for that one.

How each script is built

Same skeleton every time, because the constraint is what makes them shootable. A hook in the first four seconds that states the surprise rather than promising one. Beats of ten to twenty seconds, each with its own on-screen text, because most viewing is muted and the text carries the argument. One number that lands full-frame and holds. A closing line that is an instruction, not a slogan.

Every figure a script shows is listed on its page with its live value and its provenance, computed when the page loads from the same 5 237 food rows and 31 exercise rows behind the rest of this site. That means a script cannot quote a number that has since changed in the data, and a producer reading it gets the current figure rather than the one that was true when it was written.

None of these scripts names a study, a brand or a person. Where a claim rests on a body of evidence, the voiceover says so in the direction the evidence points and the production notes say explicitly not to put a citation on screen. That is a deliberate constraint: a fifteen-second beat cannot carry the caveats a citation would need.
