BMI

Body Mass Index — a screen relating your weight to your height.

BMI relates weight to height: weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It sorts adults into underweight, healthy weight, overweight and obese bands.

It is a population screening tool, not a diagnosis. It cannot tell muscle from fat, so a muscular athlete can read "overweight" while carrying very little body fat.

Used alongside other signals — waist size, body composition, how clothes fit — BMI is still a useful, fast first check, especially for tracking your own trend over time.
